ECONOMIC COMPARISON BETWEEN THE LACTATE PLUS, LACTATE SCOUT+ AND LACTATE PRO2
At Laktate we wanted to make a comparative analysis of the 3 lactate analysers that we commercialize, but in this case from an economic point of view. We believe that this kind of analysis may be of interest, so that the users have a more objective view which can help them decide the type of analyser that most interests them according to their needs.
The 3 portable analysers that we sell at Laktate have similar features, and do not show great differences in the time of analysis and the volume of blood required, among others. Regarding the accuracy levels, after carrying out different tests with the three analysers, we can confirm that the Lactate Plus, Lactate Scout+ and Lactate Pro2 do not show significant differences.
At Laktate we consider that the biggest difference between the three analysers, apart from the possibility of data transmission that we talked about in an earlier article, is the economic aspect. We have analysed four practical cases in order to show you the economic difference for each case.
CASE 1:
A professional who organizes 3 confirmation tests per year to the 20 athletes he works with, using 2 reactive strips for each test. The professional who is responsible for performing lactate measurements requires a new analyser and 120 test strips per year, which would translate into the following economic expenditure:
CASE 2:
A physician who performs a complete sports medical checkup to a single person, which includes a progressive lactate test for which he uses 6 test strips. This test is performed annually to determine the athletic ability and to detect alterations that can affect the athlete during sport practice. Suppose this doctor tests 40 people a year; he would need a total of 240 test strips. Below is a comparative table of the test strip prices.
CASE 3:
The same physician mentioned in Case 3 also needs a lactate analyser apart from the 240 reactive strips:
CASE 4:
A professional who performs a progressive test to a rowing team composed of 20 rowers, 3 times a year, each time using 6 test strips with each rower. In this case, the professional would need a total of 360 strips each year. Here’s the price comparison chart for this case:
This study shows that in all four cases the reactive strips for the Lactate Plus are the most economical, followed by the strips for the Lactate Scout+.
In contrast, the most economical analyser at the moment is the Lactate Scout+, followed closely by the Lactate Plus.
When deciding which lactate analyser to acquire, the number of test strips that will be needed during the year should be taken into account in order to find out which is the most affordable analyser.
Based on the fact that the three analysers we commercialize are the best on the market, if the only criterion of evaluation is the price, at Laktate we recommend the Lactate Plus.
If, on the other hand, the user of the analyser is interested in transmitting the data to the computer at no additional cost, we recommend the Lactate Scout+, which includes software called Lactate Scout Assistant, which offers numerous options for organizing results, graphical display and data analysis.
